Hello. I hate our school's crummy network. I wrote a "filk" about my woe. |
Wreck of the NESD-1
William Cutter Wreck of the NESD-1
The legend lives on from the freshmen on down
Of the server called NESD
The server, its said, never crashes, instead
It only works very very slowly
With a bandwidths a load 26000 times more
Then the NESD could handle
The computer crew was a bone to be chewed
Cause they had to choose Apples
The server was the pride of the Eastern Side
Come from a big store in Erie
As the big servers go it was slower then most
With crashes and errors quite scary
Concluding terms with those networking worms
It started out loaded for schoolwork
Later that day when the error sound rang
It had been from the very slow network
The freshmens cries made a horrific sound
And the printers workload was amazing
Every teacher knew, as the admins did too
It was the NESD that was failing
The reports came late, and web sites had to wait
When the NESD was sinking
When afternoon came it had lost its brain
In the middle of a fury of re-print requests
When second period came Mr. W came in
Saying fellas, the printer cant see ya
When third period came, the server gave in
He said fellas, its good not to be ya
The students called in, they had problems logging in
The network and files were in peril
And later that night when the files went out of sight
Came the crash of the NESD-1
Does anyone know where the files all go
When the saves take from minutes to hours?
The people all say they would regret the day
When they decided to go and use Apples
It might have split packets, or it might have capsized
It might have sunk under the workload
And all that remains are the icons and names
Of the files, and the projects, and printouts
Does anyone know where the files all go
When the prints take from minutes to hours?
The people all say they would regret the day
When they decided to go and use Apples
Compaq runs, and the Dells scream
Because of impressive new hardware
Farther below, Macs are quite slow
Unless you pay more then 3000
Does anyone know where the files all go
When the prints take from minutes to hours?
The people all say they would regret the day
When they decided to go and use Apples
In a room at the High School they prayed
At the old Mac computer lab
The error sound chimed it rang millions of times
For each printout lost in the network
The legend lives on from the freshmen on down
Of the server called NESD
The server, its said, never crashes, instead
It only works very very slowly
